It took us several nights to shift and rearrange the books and soft toys onto this new Ikea bookcase. Many a times I had to adjust the shelf just to fit the varied heights of the books and magazines. Shifting one shelf requires shifting another section of the bookcase just so the bookcase won’t look so odd with mis-align shelves. (more…)

Books all arranged
Tuesday, February 28th, 2006Ikea DIY Billy Bookcase
Friday, February 24th, 2006
I just got myself a spanking new bookcase from Ikea. One thing about Ikea DIY, you really have to DIY from purchasing the module, collecting it from their warehouse, carry it all the way to the check out counter, pay for it, carry it to the home delivery section. Then after receiving it, assemble it yourself.
Well my wife and I needed a new bookcase, because the current one is pretty much overflowing and the books and stuffs are arranged haphazardly. So does that mean I’m a bookworm? Yes and no. Sure I read quite a fair bit but compared to some readers, mine is more like the tip of the iceberg. (more…)
Cameron Highlands Links Exchange Pages
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006Took me awhile to sort out my Cameron Highlands Link Pages. It was getting pretty crowded and messy. At first I thought of using sub-categories for each location based on continent. After sorting through the links, I didn’t have that many differing countries to categorize them. In addition, some are not even related to travel. (more…)
Good Deed on a Blue Monday
Monday, February 20th, 2006
Monday mornings tend to be blue, especially after a nice weekend zipping around from Church to fellowship with friends and family members as well as shopping spree in the malls.
Well after all the dinners and shopping of weekends, my wallet was almost emptied of its Ringgit. So come this Monday first thing to do was visit the bank’s ATM machine to withdraw some cash and fill up my wallet. The transaction proceeded smoothly and I decided to hurry back to the office. (more…)
IE7 beta 2 conflicts with McAfee antivirus
Wednesday, February 15th, 2006When Microsoft released the Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 preview, I thought why not give it try. Well the initial first look feels great! With the tab browsing it is a move in the right direction. I’ve been using Mozilla Firefox for awhile and also tried out Opera, and the tab browsing is very useful. No more clicking at the taskbar to switch between the various new IE windows. The new layout of the various toolbar buttons were quite neat too.
Minor grouse: The new font display looks weird and it has also affected my MS Outlook font appearance. Not so big issue but it looks odd. I wonder if they are using the readable type fonts? Actually the readable font is not so readable. It just looks weird. (more…)
The gall of it! aka website rippers.
Tuesday, February 14th, 2006I knew it will happen one day. Sure enough, all my hard work and cost in making my trips to Cameron Highlands to snap photos and get information for my website, and this other website just download the photo and use it on their website without permission and without paying royalties. And to add insult to injury, they have the gall to use my map of Cameron Highlands and removed my website reference and put their own web address!
This is too much! It took me a long painstaking week to draw the map and here we have a website that just simply lift the map off my website, erased my web reference and use it as though they owned it! (more…)
Digital Storage
Monday, February 13th, 2006
While sorting through my drawers filled with digital devices, I finally found my LG flash drive receipt. With the receipt I could now submit my faulty LG 512MB flash drive for warranty claim. Yeay!
It seems nowadays there’s so many type of card system being developed with the old cards becoming obsolete and newer improved version to be used on digital devices. Well I guess that’s the price of digital progress. (more…)
At My Wits End
Sunday, February 12th, 2006My boss has asked me to develop new chemical product for sales into the market. Now, what are the products that I can develop? Previous endeavors were not successful. I am having a hard time here.
The Talc Masterbatch which Japan HQ has developed does not seem to have much success over here or even in other south-east Asian countries. Maybe in Japan the PP is expensive and using the Talc Masterbatch can significantly lower their cost. But over here, the PP cost was about US$1.31/kg, and the talc m/b after bringing it from China or Japan stock, with the usual mark up to cover for cargo clearance and profit margin becomes approx slight less than the PP price which does not contribute much value for customer at an add in dosage of 20%. Telekom Service is real slow
Friday, February 10th, 2006
Yesterday, I had to go over to Telekom to do a simple name change on behalf of my company. I expected to be able to zip in and finish this in a jiffy as it is suppose to be a simple procedure. Alas, no! It turned out to be a two hour affair!
Although there were two counters available, it took them quite a while to settle each customer case. When I took a number #4108, there was 16 numbers ahead of me. I thought to myself, “Shouldn’t be a long wait. I probably could get it done quickly and be on my way to do other things.” (more…)
CNY at Bukit Tinggi, Raub & Fraser’s Hill
Thursday, February 2nd, 2006Yes, it is the year of the dog. Hopefully, we don’t have to work like a dog this year, but somehow I think not!
Just backed from CNY holiday. What a blast! Reunion dinner and all. My aunty from Raub invited us over for overnight stay as my Uncle Aaron was giving treating us a CNY dinner. And my sis-in-law also managed to get free stay at Silverpark Apartments in Fraser’s Hill. Well, to make full use of this trip, I decided to cram in a few sight seeing / fact finding / photo taking session opportunity. (more…)
