Red Fox FT44 MP3 Wireless FM Modulator

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

The Red Fox FT44 MP3 Wireless FM Modulator is the latest model on sale for playing MP3 or WMA music in your car using radio transmission to your car radio. My older FM modulator was getting cranky and with the new model with new features on sale, I decided to get a new MP3 wireless FM modulator.

The new upgraded version looks great. On the cover it says the Red Fox FT44 model is able to support up to 16GB USB drive and able to play over 1000++ songs. In addition, it can also play songs by folder selection. That sounds really great, because the current one that I have cannot switch songs by folder and the random jump button is very difficult to enable. However if using SD or MMC card, it can only support up to 2GB. I guess they still didn’t support SDHC cards. USB thumb drives are still cheaper than SD/MMC cards anyway so it is not such a big deal for not able to play from SDHC cards.

Are you wasting time blogging?

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Do you make your own web site or make a blogging web site? What is the purpose of blogging anyway? There is a difference between blogging and building a web site. Blogging is linear, it has no structure while a web site has a pyramid form where people can navigate to find relevant information. In terms of usefulness for people visiting a web site, a proper structured web site would be superior to a blog.

If you plan to make money from blogging, it would require a massive effort. You get some good pages with good incoming links and traffic, but mostly you get lots of bounce pages and for those visitors who linger, most would just read that post that was relevant to what they were searching and off they go. You won’t see them again.

Blogging has very high bounce rate. It is quite common to see 80-90% or more bounce because most of the posts do not fit in to what people are searching for. Once a visitor drop in, and find the whole web site is not quite relevant to what they are searching generally, they would just pop right out again. (more…)
