Received this email in my inbox which gives an estimate on the TNB Tariff Rate on home appliance usage. Although the costing looks small based on the hourly usage, it all adds up to your monthly bill. My own house electric bill goes for an average of RM150 per month. When the weather is hot with the heavier usage of air-con it can shoot up to RM200+. I heard some of my friends electric bill are as high as RM500+ or more per month! I wonder what they use to use up so much electricity!
Anyway, this was what the message said:
For those in Semenanjung Malaysia, TNB’s tariff is approximately 30 sen to 45 sen per kilowatt-hour (kWh), depending on your usage. The more you use, the more expensive the rates!
Below is a short table of common electrical appliances, and a rough estimate on how much they cost to run for every hour.
(The cost may seem low, but remember, even using 3 sen/hour means that you will be paying about RM 20 a month if you leave it on for 24 hours a day!)
