Finally, the AGM is over. It’s been quite a busy few days, especially for my good boss who needed to ensure everything was going smoothly. The president of our company was coming together with the other directors and it would be a shame if something went awry. Though it nearly went wrong this morning as the driver was too exhausted to wake up on time after their late night drinking.<\/p>\n
It was actually to arrange two cars to take all the gentlemen to the airport, but fortunately we could fit all of them into my car after some rearrangement. The journey was smooth and I got the bonus of viewing the sunrise as we approached the KLIA airport. Wish I had my camera along, but wouldn’t do me any good anyway, since I won’t be able to stop the car.<\/p>\n
Though I was not permitted to attend the AGM nor join in with their high profile meeting and dinner with one of the business partners. Together with the company driver which I was allowed to invite this once as a treat to him and to some extend for myself too, I did get to enjoy a scrumptious dinner at the prestigious KL Hilton while waiting for them in the same hotel. I was surprised at their high quality fare and service and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. If my wife was around she would have enjoyed it too and of course would admire the way I try some strange looking dish and those specialty cheese!<\/p>\n
At RM98++ per pax, it was a trifle expensive. But like the driver said, after I got my permission, just “hantam-lah”! We ate like kings though our easting capacity was not as much while we were younger. Sometimes, it is not the quantity that we eat but rather the quality of the servings. Sometimes we still have that old mentality of more is better, when it should be a fulfilled senses that leads to a satisfied stomach. Ah, a case of live to eat and not eat to live.<\/p>\n
The old has passed and a renewed vigor, my working environment is much better now. If my previous steward had not left, life would certainly be hell. Not withstanding, my private projects are not as fruitful as I expected them to be. If it was, I would have left. Whatever takings I get now, it’s rather like a bonus.<\/p>\n
Even the driver knew the previous steward character cannot be tolerated. The driver too would have quit if he were to work under him. A case of heads he wins tails you lose. You don’t do as he says, you die. If you do as he says, you die too. What’s the meaning of this? A megalomaniac in action? It takes a liar not to trust anybody. As they say, live by the sword, die by the sword. Anyway, he is not stationed here now, but his legacy still stung.<\/p>\n
Looking forward to a more cooperative working environment with good mutual understanding, that’s where we can excel. Already I can see sales picking up, with many closed deals. A dark oppressive cloud has been lifted up where work is no longer ruled by fear and condemnation. There was a lesson learned. Never trust in man, but trust in God. To learn to have patience when going through trials. Not to look for earthly rewards for ours is in heaven.<\/p>\n
