Since while I was doing some 3G speed test comparison, I may as well did the LTE \/ 4G speed test from Maxis. However my Nokia Lumia 925 is a Windows Phone, I decided to share the internet connection to my other devices instead of directly testing it. This may produce higher latency as the data signal need to hop from cell towers to a WiFi Hotspot then to my Acer Iconia and Samsung Note phone. Still it was just a rough estimation for the kind of data speed we should be receiving from the telco operators.<\/p>\n

Despite doing it this way, I was surprised at the internet data speed that could be achieved! So here are the results;<\/p>\n

Despite having to go through internet sharing via WiFi hotspot and high latency (ping), I still get very fast throughput. Download speeds were about 10Mbps. Sometimes they were much faster at about 15Mbps! That’s about 2 to 3 times my TM Unifi VIP5 package which caps at 5 Mbps!<\/p>\n

Of course, the data speed is affected by location and coverage, and I still get very poor mobile signals in Bandar Utama. I wonder why Maxis is not doing anything about it? There are so many shopping centres around that area including 1 Utama, IPC, Ikea, Curve and a poorer signal do not give good user experience.<\/p>\n

I have a neighbout that tried switching from Maxis to Celcom, but the coverage was just as bad. Not sure whether all the telcos are using the same cell tower infrastructure to broadcast their signal.<\/p>\n

Anyway, if anybody has Celcom LTE or DiGi LTE package, would sure like to know the results to compare against Maxis LTE \/ 4G data speed.<\/p>\n
