However these mobile phones could not be compared with the compacts or DSLRs cameras. However with some ingenuity and a good eye you might still capture some interesting mobile photos.

Depending on the make and model, the mobile phone camera can be somewhat hopeless to quite all right. Starting with the low end models, the basic hand phones have about 0.3 megapixels to some of the premium camera phones with 5.0 megapixels. However megapixels are not the be all and end all for choosing a mobile phone camera. A hand phone ultimate main usage is for telecommunication. The inclusion of a mobile camera is a plus point and useful as a standby for capturing pictures. Mobile camera is also useful for taking pictures for reminders; after all, a picture is worth a thousand words! Want to buy that dress but not now? Take a shot for reminder. Where did you park your car in the basement car park? Take a picture of the signage. A picture of your friend to match the phone number in your address book, perhaps? Such is the usefulness of a mobile camera.

As an alternative to a solid camera, it serves up conveniently for taking snapshots of sceneries, and comes in handy when you don’t have your compact camera or the bulky DSLR around with you. However do not expect too much out of it.

The good brands around in the market for mobile phone cameras are Sony Ericsson and Nokia. These two brands are going head to head in terms of features. How good the picture quality will depend on which model you go for. Sony has mobile phones that are dedicated to picture taking, those would be better than mobiles phone than with mobile phone cameras that are geared for listening to music. The Nokia N series with 3 to 5 megapixels are some of the candidates you could consider. However these camera phones are expensive and it would be better if you opt for a digital compact camera which is far more capable than mobile phone camera for taking a snapshot.

The issue with hand phone cameras is that they are meant for telecommunication first. With the small body structure, there is not much room to put in a good lens system. In addition, there is a big lag from the time you press the shutter release till the picture is captured in the sensor. Another issue is that mobile photos tend to be fuzzier and has a lack of clarity. In the hands of professional photographer, it is still possible to capture some interesting pictures. When the Nokia 6600 first came out, some photographers were able to take some interesting photos with the 0.3 megapixels mobile camera.

So with a good eye, and some good ideas, it still possible to capture some interesting mobile photos despite its lack of quality and finesse when compared to its more powerful digital camera siblings.

The convergence of electronic devices meant that you could now take mobile photos anywhere, anytime.
