Dell Inspiron Mini 10v Netbook Review

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Recently I just got the Dell Inspiron Mini 10v and some of my friends asked how it was. I have been thinking about getting a netbook for awhile. Sure I got my laptop, the Dell Inspiron 1501 about 2-1/2 years ago. With its big 15.4″ screen it was quite a dead weight to carry around. Although I wanted portability, I also wanted a generous work space on the screen. And of course usually laptops that are bigger are generally cheaper despite the fact that LCD screen space is more. There was a time that bigger screen was more expensive; however in order to cramp more hardware component into smaller spaces meant that notebooks would be more expensive than laptops. (more…)

Finally upgrade to Windows 7

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Windows 7 is out in the market for some time now. And from what has been reviewed, it seems to be very popular and much more user friendly than Windows Vista. So without much ado, it was time for me to upgrade to Windows 7, well at least for my laptop and give it a quick spin.

I was not about to destroy my Windows Vista installed in my Gigabyte AMD desktop PC. It has way too much stuff. Since I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop which I have been using for the past 2-1/2 year (how time flies!). I used mainly for travel and don’t store my data inside at all. So this was a good candidate to try out for an upgrade to Windows 7. (more…)

Dual booting with Ubuntu Linux and Windows Vista

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

My dell computer laptop is about two years old already and I’m running a little short on storage space. I have been dual booting the dell computer laptop with Ubuntu Linux and Windows Vista, however I didn’t think it out thoroughly on the partitioning and thus I have linux partition here and there in between Windows Vista partition. At that time, storage space wasn’t an issue and I could use it without any problem. However recently, I have installed more and more software and it was running out of space. I also noticed it was running slower with less space. Usually when there is less space there will be less page file for swapping out the main memory into the hard disk. (more…)

Dell Inspiron 530s Slim Tower

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

One of our office PCs was already more than 5 years old and I had to replace it with a Dell Inspiron 530s. Aged PC tends to slowdown in its speed even after say a clean format and a complete reinstall. Anyway I loathed doing a reinstallation as it is a very tedious task. Better to submit a new PC purchase to the management, after all the same amount of tediousness of preparing the PC was the same anyway.

Since I did not have the luxury of waiting for the best offer from Dell as I normally would if I were to make a personal computer purchase, I had to take whatever that was on offer on Dell’s web site. The key to choosing a Dell system is (more…)

Dell Vostro 200 Slim TowerAfter a week of slugging it out in the office on the ageing PC, my boss finally approved the purchase of new Dell Vostro 200 computer system as the old PC was affecting my ability to do anything with its sluggish speed. Quickly checking through the Dell online website, I narrowed down my choice to the Dell Vostro range. (more…)

How to buy a Dell PC system that is on offer

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

One should not simply just buy a Dell computer PC system without checking out the previous offers and also comparing the system on offer with other branded computer system. You may end up with a system that is more expensive and not quite what you want. However, if the offer is a good one, you should make the decision quickly or miss out on their offer. (more…)

Dell PC System Restore

Friday, June 29th, 2007

I think I really messed up my Windows Vista installation yet again. Without using Dell PC Restore, I found out to my dismay that some drivers were missing from a clean reinstall of Windows Vista and was not included with the CDs that came along with my Dell Inspiron 1501 package.

To kill a bird in the bush I had to ravage the whole forest so to speak. My McAfee VirusScan Plus was having a conflict with the pre-installed trial version of Norton anti-virus despite the fact that I uninstalled it before installing McAfee. (more…)

My Dell Inspiron 1501

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

(Or how to buy a Dell PC/Laptop like my Dell Inspiron 1501)

I have been keeping an eye out for an affordable laptop for a long time now. I felt there was a need for a proper portable computing power to do some of my article writing and blogs. Many a times I get stuck with nothing to do while in my parents-in-law house or even in Raub where my aunts stays. My wife, Lena agreed too and sympathize with my plight. For her she seems to have many things to do in my in laws house or even at my aunt’s place sorting and rummaging stuff, throwing out old junk for the earth of us we have no idea why the old folks want to hang on. Those junk were sitting in the store room or cabinet just lying there gathering dust. About time to move it out and salvage some much needed storage space. (more…)
