My Nokia Lumia 800 Windows Phone

Friday, January 4th, 2013

The Nokia Lumia Windows Phone flashy display certainly caught my eye! Eventually with the sales promotion, I decided to give this mobile phone a go! I did had my apprehension initially as I had bad experience with an O2 Microsoft Windows Mobile based smartphone. I suppose with iPhone and Android hammering at the smartphone market, Microsoft had to redesign their mobile O/S platform from the ground up, and they sure did a good job at it this time round.

Nokia was the pioneer for the Windows Phone platform as they were given first mover advantage before Microsoft moved on to HTC and Samsung. Given that Nokia was doing very poorly with their Symbian O/S platform, they needed a more powerful operating system to tackle the smartphone market now dominated with the likes of Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android partnering with Samsung, HTC, Sony, etc. (more…)

Rooting Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

After successfully rooting my HTC, I decided to root my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro. After all, it was great to gain more memory and thus able to install much more Android apps then it would otherwise be able without me having to buy another new higher end Android model just so to have more memory to install apps. I’m planning to save up some money to go for Android tablets instead to replace my netbook stolen by my runaway Indonesian maid.

Having used this Xperia X10 mini pro for almost 2 years now, my main grouse with it is the insufficient working RAM memory of 176MB. With the many application running in the background most of the time I get a balance of about 30MB or RAM memory which really slows down my X10 mini pro. The internal ROM memory was 212MB which was about 50MB more than my HTC Cha Cha still gives the X10 mini pro an edge for App installation especially it has less bloatware in comparison with HTC too helped to save up on the ROM memory usage.

Multi Boot USB Linux with Pendrive Linux Yumi Software

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Multi boot USB Linux comes in really handy and recently I just discovered this Yumi software by Lance of Pendrive Linux website that can be used for booting multiple live distros of Linux! Previously my linux project was to install linux itself into my SanDisk Ultra 64GB flash drive, however I could only limit myself to boot 2 linux flavours in the thumb drive namely Ubuntu for its productivity suite and Puppy Lupu for its small size and speed.
