A New Year and looking at ways to reduce expenditure

Wednesday, February 24th, 2016

Time sure flies really fast. I guess the rat race is non-stop. Before you know it, 2 months has already passed since the New Year, including the Chinese New Year celebration! Year 2016 bode some very challenging times ahead for work and personal. And the scandal involving top politicians and their uncaring policy is causing lots of hardship to the day-to-day people.

I could berate about such supercilious politicians who just want to hang on to their position. Reading the daily news just make us feel hapless when those that want to make a change, gets kick about. Sigh! Such is the situation when our beautiful country is heading towards a police like state as one of our former PM said. (more…)

Fixing the Penalty of Google Panda 2.5.2 update

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

It’s been awhile since my last post. Ever since the penalty imposed by the October 14, 2011 Google Panda 2.5.2 update, my website traffic has gone down, and so did my motivation for running my personal blogs and websites. The hit was rather severe causing both my authoritative guide website traffic to go down by as much 50% to 60% as well as my hobby blog such as t

his. I do get a kick to see my site having traffic despite not earning much. And this time it is really a kick in my stomach. (more…)

Removed Infolinks Code

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Finally removed Infolinks code since it conflicts with Kontera T&Cs. I had to remove the related tags as well when Kontera send me another mail saying that has to be removed too. I was still thinking of testing out Infolinks somehow. Since Kontera and Infolinks must not show at the same time, I suppose I will keep Infolinks in my Tumblr subdomain, and keep Kontera i

n my main domain and Blogger. Surely that wouldn’t violate any T&Cs?! (more…)

Kontera vs Infolinks – In-Text Ads Comparison

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Kontera LogoI received a surprise and stern mail from Kontera. They noted that I have Infolinks which is a competing in-text advertising company. It seems according to their T&Cs that I am only allowed to display in-text context link ads from one company only. If I don’t remove the competing company ads I will have my account suspended. Thanks for the warning dude. So now I will have to decide which one is better, Kontera vs Infolinks, then drop off the one faring poorly. (more…)

Received my Kontera cheque

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

After such a long wait I finally got my first pay cheque from Kontera! It is not much just slight above the threshold of US$50 which is the minimum required for a payout. I started trying out Kontera since May 2009 so finally as of March 2011, it took a total of 22 months to accumulate the payout amount! Whoosh! That’s a really long time! (more…)

Bidvertiser Review

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

Bidvertiser is yet another pay per click Adsense like advertising for monetizing your website. I signed up with them and see how I could go with Bidvertiser vs Adsense and other advertisement that I have plastered around my personal blog. Hey, it may be drag if you see so many advertisement on my website, but isn’t it the same when you pick up a newspaper or a glossy magazine and they too serve up ads to your face? Publishing company need revenue to run, and so do I. The difference is that they have lots of resources and contacts to gain their monetization while small fry one-man-show like us has to do everything by ourselves. (more…)

What is this hyperpromote.com appearing on my website?

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

If you are wondering why you are getting some pop-up / pop-under with URL of hyperpromote.com or the full URL http://www.hyperpromote.com/tags/showp.dbm?cid=222 there is no need to be alarmed. At first I was also wondering why there was this hyperpromote pop-under appearing when I access my personal blog website. It took me awhile to figure out what it was as the pop-up / under only showed a blank screen. (more…)

Exit Junction Review

Friday, September 10th, 2010

It is always nice to have some side income while blogging. And Exit Junction is another alternate affiliate program just for that. Exit Junction works a little differently compared with the other advertisement program that you see plastered around my website.

I came across this while browsing online and it looks intriguing and decided to sign up and give it a try. (more…)

Not earning enough from Nuffnang ?

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Just received this notice from Nuffnang warning their affiliates from clicking on their own ads. Like any affiliate programs such as Google Adsense, Advertlets, Chitika, Kontera, and many more out there, they have very clear guidelines about clicking on your own ads for generating a higher income for themselves. I suspect the bloggers and webmaster are having a tough time trying to earn anything decent from their hard work blogging and making website. (more…)

Make money online – Adsense vs Nuffnang vs Advertlets and other entrepreneur ideas

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

I picked up the latest copy of Personal Money magazine from the newsstand recently as one of the articles was about Nuffnang and about online entrepreneurs. The magazine article talked about three companies namely Elevyn.com, Nuffnang.com and Popfolio.net.

These entrepreneurs are not like us infopreneurs, they try to make their concept work by dealing with real world products and services and hawking them online. (more…)
