My Maid Ran Away and Stole My PC Gadgets and Stuffs!

Sunday, December 18th, 2011

We should never trust any maid. Our recently hired maid ran away and stole my PC gadgets and stuffs too! My wife always wanted a maid ever since she gave birth to our energetic baby last year. Her mom would do the baby sitting but being senior in her years and getting less strong, my wife thought that it might be good to hire a maid to help out with the chores. Little did she know that it would be such hassle get any help at all! (more…)

Tsuen Wan International Hong Kong – Scam?

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Could this Tsuen Wan International investment company be a fraud or scam? No idea. However I didn’t want to risk it. It all started with some calls coming in via the office and mobile phone. I didn’t think too much about the phishing tactic and gave some information when the caller was requesting for risk assessment aptitude and what kind of investment that I did. Later I tried to do some research about this TW International but couldn’t find much info except one. (more…)

Build a better mouse trap and customers will beat a path to you

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Now tell me which marketing student haven’t learned about this phrase: “Build a better mouse trap and customers will beat a path to you.”

And you know what? It doesn’t work that way in real life and many marketing people will tell you that. Unfortunately those who didn’t study marketing or blur about the marketing concept will continue to make the same blunder. They made a better product; but no customer beat a path to them unfortunately.

There are four basic fundamental marketing concept:
Production concept
Product concept
Selling concept
Marketing concept (more…)

Malaysia Download Speed Comparison

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

I really can’t take this slow motion internet connection. But what other choice do I have? Just checked Malaysia download speed and guess what I dug out? Found out that Malaysia is ranked #104 at 1.94Mb/s for download and ranked #86 at 0.72Mb/s for upload. Sounds nice? Not if you compare with our nearest neighbours and you would see we are hopelessly outclassed. (more…)

EMS Poslaju Malaysia Contact

Monday, April 12th, 2010

I’ve kvetched about EMS Poslaju poor service, and I’m going to kvetch about it again! In fact this time its service is much poorer than my previous bad experience. And if you need to contact them to query about your parcel, you can find the telephone numbers here because the Pos Malaysia website is just feeding you wrong information!

You would have thought that Pos Malaysia Berhad being incorporated would run their EMS Poslaju Malaysia department like a corporate machinery. This just isn’t so; the EMS Poslaju is working worse than a third world country. How so, let’s start with this experience of mine. (more…)

Domain Name Scams

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Here they go again. Are these web hosting company so desperate to get any kind of business that they have to resort to domain name scams to earn their income? Ever since the first time they send me one of these messages saying that somebody so and so wants to register my domain name with a .cc TLD or dot whatever, I was of course taken in by their professional looking correspondences. Fortunately I checked around first before succumbing to their little domain name scams. (more…)

Bad day

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I want to vent my frustration because everything is not going well today. Sure there may be good days and bad days, but today it was especially no good. First there was a speed trap on a stretch of road that never in my frequent usage encounter such a thing. Then there was some miscommunication about the location of the meeting to take place with the customer, the supplier wanted to have meeting in the factory but usually the customer boss is in the city and the distance is very far. But the boss said it is no problem to see them at the factory even though it would be inconvenient. The customer usually plays hardball with me and don’t give out information freely. But now with the supplier around and my big boss around, the information is now freely given. This would have been great unfortunately I informed that the customer usually don’t give out information. So now I lose face in front of my boss. In addition, pricing information about competitor is also not given out, but today it flows freely. In the end what am I to say? Damn if I do, Damn if I don’t. Needless to say the pricing quotation was out of the market price. I will be very fortunate to even get a few orders out from this account. Difficult to build up your reputation and it can be destroyed in an instant. Trying to be as frank and straight as possible, but ended up being chowder and meatballs.

Very slow internet connection again – Conficker worm or Streamyx problem?

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Argh! Not again! The internet connection is atrociously slow. This time who should I blame? Streamyx or Conficker worm? Perhaps both? Apparently the Conficker worm has been wrecking havoc around the world since it was triggered on April Fool’s day and has managed to infect thousands of web servers, web sites and millions of computers around the world starting from the East to West as the time zone slowly switches the date to 1st April. Work life balance good and bad

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

The New Year started with a bang from all those grand fireworks display. Being near to two shopping malls I got to see all the slam bang actions from 1-Utama and Ikano/Curve. That was like 3 weeks ago since my last blog. Well I was kinda busy. During the New Year, I made a trip up to Cameron Highlands with my parents and less than a week later I was off to Bali to attend a cousin’s wedding. Two travel destinations in so short a time sounds good you would think. But there is such a thing as travel fatigue. Too much of a good thing can actually be a tiring affair. (more…)

Streamyx is slow because…

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Apparently there was a damaged to TMnet submarine cable network linking Malaysia and Europe. And service degradation was expected for connection to North America because they will reroute some of the connection. No wonder the internet service was so, so bad, especially those linking to overseas. Since this web site is hosted in the US, it was similarly affected. And it was expected the undersea cable to be fixed and the online services restored by 31/Dec/2008.

Sheesh… Even posting a page takes like forever. A page will load real slowly. Especially if a site using PHP like WordPress, Joomla, phpBB or any other server side enabled web sites. Simpler web sites were still not so bad. If a page was just created using simple HTML/CSS and a bit of SSI/PHP, the page loads quite fast. And not all sites were affected. Some sites and most Google services still run fairly well. (more…)
