So Pos Malaysia has revised its postal rates by 100% from 1st July 2010 onwards. They claim their postal usage has been declining and of course they have not revised their rates for the past 18 years. They needed to adjust their rates so that they can revise their pay to the postal workers to match with the civil servants pay and of course to boost the profitability back to previous years. (more…)

Pos Malaysia Postal Rates July 2010
Monday, July 5th, 2010EMS Poslaju Malaysia Contact
Monday, April 12th, 2010I’ve kvetched about EMS Poslaju poor service, and I’m going to kvetch about it again! In fact this time its service is much poorer than my previous bad experience. And if you need to contact them to query about your parcel, you can find the telephone numbers here because the Pos Malaysia website is just feeding you wrong information!
You would have thought that Pos Malaysia Berhad being incorporated would run their EMS Poslaju Malaysia department like a corporate machinery. This just isn’t so; the EMS Poslaju is working worse than a third world country. How so, let’s start with this experience of mine. (more…)
Star Two Rage featured bloggers
Thursday, March 11th, 2010The Star Two Rage section is more for the youth, twenty-something who likes to blog. Some of their featured Malaysian bloggers including the super blogger like Kenny Sia and several others. Ok, intriguing. So where do I stand as far as all this bloggers go?
Blogging may be all the rage these days especially in the Malaysian scene. Granted when I pop into blogging a few years back, blogging was still in its infancy (a few years is like millennia, considering the fast pace of online app development!). Back then I started a website about travel, it was a niche topic, doing pretty darn well I should say. But I have more things to say than just happy travelling. So I got myself a blog and started to write about technological stuffs which I like (ok, apart from travel which I also liked, and there are many more things which I like too.) (more…)
USAF F-16 Thunderbirds and RMAF Sukhoi airshow
Wednesday, October 7th, 2009This wasn’t a chance to be missed! USAF F-16 Thunderbirds are coming to Kuala Lumpur for an aerial display, plus of course our very own local Malaysian RMAF Sukhoi jet in the opening act! So it was a must see!
Despite the traffic jam leading to the airbase plus I didn’t know where exactly is the entrance to the Subang airbase did give me some trouble to get there in the morning. Idil said I should go there early in the morning at 6am! Brrr… I still want my sleep! So I took my time getting there and left about 9am in the morning. The air show was slated to start at around 10:30am but the crowd has already gone on ahead early and I was stuck in a crawl with the latecomers. Halfway through, I decided to stop at BHP petrol station for a break. Met guy there who was wondering why there was a massive traffic jam in the early Saturday morning. So I told him about the air show. This was one of tha “Ah…” moment when he realized what caused the bad traffic jam. (more…)
Durian Malaysia
Friday, September 4th, 2009Durian Malaysia, the king of fruits. Everybody loves them and many are repulsed by the offensive smell. But once they overcome the strong aroma and get the courage to try it, mmm…, that’s it, they are hooked!

The various variety of Durians in Malaysia
There are so many varieties of durian in Malaysia. So many that I’m not sure which is which. Sometimes the names are in Chinese, sometimes in Malay, sometimes in code, and sometimes it is from the place that it was grown plus the grade that grow there. It is like trying to decipher French connoisseur wines. It is as though a particular durian variety grown in a specific region will yield a different subtlety to it, just like wines. (more…)
Chinese New Year travel destination trip to Kuantan, Pahang
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009“Chinese New Year doesn’t feel like one if we didn’t make an outstation trip.” Lena said. So off we went for a travel destination trip to Kuantan, Pahang on the first day of Chinese New Year with Lindy and my parent-in-laws in tow driving in our Toyota Wish which would provide a comfortable trip. Our Uncle Tee has invited us to stay over because they have won a new LCD TV / Theatre home system set plus a new sofa settee from some lucky draw. Well it was a good excuse to ask us over, and a good excuse to make a trip to Kuantan. With the sun shining bright and hot in the morning, Lena and I also took opportunity to do some laundry and housekeeping. Before we made our trip, we had to drop by Uncle Michael house for a CNY lunch. They had organized a Lion Dance as a symbol to usher in prosperity for their business. So the balance journey time to Kuantan was rather tight. By the time we were ready to make our departure it was already four o’clock. (more…)
Looking for an alternative income generation after Chinese New Year?
Friday, January 23rd, 2009Looks like CNY is just around the corner. Almost everybody is winding up their businesses especially factory production. With the looming gloomy economic climate, many factories has taken this opportunity to extend the CNY holiday for a week or more in an effort to reduce production overhead cost. Some has even decided to cut employees salary as a move to reduce expenses. Though family reunion dinner celebration is a must, it looks like a mixture of “glad to be still alive but have to tighten belt” to face an uncertain future.
It is unfortunate the world economy has to centre itself on the biggest consumer market namely the USA. Whenever their economy goes down, so does the whole wide world. The cycle of wax and wane of the world economy has a very predictable pattern which no one seems to bother except the academics. It roughly follows a 10 to 11 years of boom and bust cycle. Some scientist even wonders whether it has something to do with the solar cycle activities which also follows a 10-11 year cycle. Strange coincidence indeed. The world’s economy is like a bubble, it just need a flashpoint to trigger it and the house of cards would just come tumbling down. (more…)
The state of Streamyx is slowness aka Why is Streamyx so bl*** slow!!!
Tuesday, December 16th, 2008So Malaysia wants to join the rank of a develop country with everything at the tap of the keyboard and do everything online? Dream on man. With the current slow motion of Streamyx, I shouldn’t even call it broadband; it is more like a dial up pretending to be broadband. I’m sure many of my fellow Malaysian netizens would whole heartedly agree with me. (more…)
Having a durian fest in Mr Goo’s orchard
Monday, August 4th, 2008Durian, the king of fruits. Some like it. Some hate it. But we got to sample a whole bunch for free when my friend, Mr Goo invited my family over to his orchard in the Bentong area.

The durian season was well on its way, and there was an over abundance in Pahang. In KL, it was a little scarcer as the suppliers could not get good profit from the oversupply. Still that would not have stopped my wife and family from organizing a durian fest. Fortunately, Mr Goo invited us over to his orchard on a weekend.”Why not come over to my orchard? Eat as much as you want!” He said. Alright, after making arrangement with various family members we ended up with two cars going out on this excursion as it comprise my parent and parent-in-laws, Kenny and his wife, Rebecca, Lindy, Lena and I. Fireworks display celebrating Malaysia 50 years of independence
Friday, August 31st, 2007Malaysia has come a long way since its independence 50 years ago. A lot of changes has happen since then, some good, some not so good. But hey, this is my country. I suppose every country in the world is not perfect. But I dare say we are fortunate than many. In fact many foreign country marvel at our multi-racial community living out in harmony.
